DK weight yarn can be prepared in many ways, but there are a few dyer favorites. At Knomad, our favorite is a traditional 3-ply with a beautiful, crisp twist coming in at 246 yards per 100g skein. This yarn lends itself beautifully to cable work, linen and seed stitch, or anything where texture is a focal point. As a rule of thumb, DK weight yarn will yield about 230 – 260 yards per 100g. The most common ply structures in DK are 2-ply, 3-ply, and cable ply. These ply structures all have a few things in common – they are all designed to be soft and resilient!
